My second car is a Citroen Xantia Activa, when we first purchased it we had
many problems with the suspension.
The right hand drive Citroen Xantia Activa is basically a standard Citroen Xantia with a 2 litre turbocharged petrol engine (not the most powerful engine as it only has 150bhp and weighs about 1.5 tonnes) and the addition of Anti-Roll suspension. my contact details are at the bottom of this page
Unfortunately suspension problems with the Xantia Activa are quite common, mainly due to a lack of proper maintenance and lack of knowledge with the Activa model in some of the UK dealer chain (this seems to be a common problem with Citroens in the UK, when I took the car to the local dealer to purchase a replacement Activa ram the parts guy told me that they had never seen an Activa). After purchasing our car we had many problems with the suspension, but now that they have been fixed I'm hoping I can help others by sharing some of my experiences.
What is worth mentioning is that Duff Morgan in Norwich and Duxford Service Station in Cambridgeshire *really* know what they are doing with these cars. Both of these places have really been a massive help to me in the past. Some main dealers will have no experience however, so be very careful to ask them and try to speak to the workshop staff before you even book the car in!
I would also be very careful of taking an Activa to some of the independant specialists around, some of them have no experience with the Activa and will probably end up making things worse if you have a weird problem. The best place to get advice from where to take an Activa to would be from the Activanet forums
You will find some help here with some of the common suspension problems with the Xantia Activa including replacing the front Activa ram, and maintaining the linkages. I have a fair bit more to add to these pages in the future but don't hold much hope that it will be done anytime soon
